Named “Indie Pop Sweetheart” by the My Seattle Night Out and having several awards to her name, Andrea Desmond, is all set to be a future superstar as she sets herself to release new EP towards the end of this August after having signed by Love Harmony Records recently. Desmond, now a relatively known name among music performing artists, became a pop sensation after recording of her latest single, ‘Inner Fire’, came out few months back. From NBC News, Skope Entertainment, and ABC News to EDM Sauce and Vents Magazine, various newspapers and magazines have written about her music and praised it for the soulful touch it carries. She has also been a featured artist for different publications, including The Cool Noise, Kurrent Music, Indie Reviews and Industry Reviewz among many others.
Like most other so called “overnight success”, Andrea Desmond has had her share of struggle and hard work as well. Though not a dramatic story, it still includes element of dedication, perseverance, focus, professionalism and dreams. She has been pursuing her career for over a decade and never gave up. Alan Menken, composer for various mega-hits including Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, who also happened to be her cousin, mentored and trained her in professional songwriting. After having attained music and composition degree and being on road as singer and keyboardist for various bands for many years, Desmond had gained enough confidence and polished skills to launch her solo career as a pop singer and songwriter. Spectra Records, an Indie Label, signed her in 2013 got her a nomination in the shorty awards in ‘Best Singer’ category. Her efforts started gaining reward as she won different awards over the last few years, including the Eco Arts Award and the Akademia Music Award.
More music fans started knowing her as various industry critics and writers found it important to write and review her work. In this context, Music News Nashville mentioned her as a ‘musical triple threat’ for her ability to play good music, great singing skills and good looks to compliment her stardom. Some reviewers have specifically noted about her skill to shift vocals from classical to even soulful and even compared her with early days of Jessie J., Lily Allen and Adele. Natalie Perez, while writing for Skope Magazine, termed her song “Inner Fire” as catchy, upbeat and danceable.
While it is entirely up to the fans and music lovers to decide her fate as a future music star, there is no doubt about the fact that Desmond is all set to make some noise and attract music critics and fans with her new single that is due to be released on June, 26 and of course her EP in last week of August, this year.
After having all the mentorship, training, professional education and hard work as music enthusiast, Desmond has a new and (hopefully) a better team to work with in the days and months to come, in the shape of Love Harmony Records as her label and Creative Music Agency for management. In order to be a future leading pop singer/songwriter, Desmond still has a lot of work to do; her story implies that she has the necessary recipe and traits to achieve that future.
Now, the industry, and especially those who closely monitor emerging starts, awaits for her upcoming EP to determine how much her new management team and label helps her in making an even higher standard of music. As Desmond enters the mainstream, we leave it up to the fans, who are waiting for her future releases, to decide whether or not she deserves all the praise and roar that she gained by various music critics.
